Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hickory NC (ELCA) seeks candidates for a part-time (approx. 20 hrs/wk) Director of Children and Youth Ministries (‘DCYM') . The DCYM is tasked with developing and overseeing those ministries aimed specifically at transforming the lives of children and youth (primarily pre-K-12). Through a partnership with their families and church volunteers, the DCYM will guide and nurture the spiritual growth of the children, youth, and others as they mature into Christian disciples through active participation in worship, faith formation, service, and fellowship.

• Be a positive, fun, accessible, and flexible individual who loves children and youth and feels called by the Holy Spirit to this ministry.

• Be personally committed to growing and deepening a life of Christian discipleship.

• Possess gifts in organization, administration, communication, technology, and team-building skills, and be committed to honing those skills on an ongoing basis through networking and continuing education.

• Experience in working in youth and family ministry programs. A degree or certification in Youth or Christian Ministry or similar qualification is preferred.

• Possess strong interpersonal skills focused on the ability to relate to people in a compassionate and nurturing manner.

• Possess knowledge of and appreciate Lutheran theology and teachings.
